Linear Integration
Push ideas to Linear with status sync
Overview
Connect Linear to IdeaLift to push ideas directly to your Linear workspace. IdeaLift integrates seamlessly with Linear's workflow, allowing you to create issues in the right team and project with proper prioritization.
Setup
1Go to Dashboard Connections
From your IdeaLift dashboard, navigate to Connections and find the Linear card.
2Authorize Linear
Click "Connect Linear" and authorize IdeaLift to access your Linear workspace. You'll need to be a workspace admin or have appropriate permissions.
3Select Default Team & Project
Choose a default team and optional project for new issues. You can change these when pushing individual ideas.

Open an idea from your dashboard

Select team, project, priority, and labels

The issue is created and linked to your idea
Status Sync
IdeaLift syncs status changes between Linear and your ideas. When you update the status in either system, the other is updated automatically.

Issue Fields
When creating a Linear issue, you can configure:

Permissions
IdeaLift requests these Linear permissions:
- ✓read - Read workspace, team, and project information
- ✓write - Create and update issues
- ✓issues:create - Create new issues in your teams
Webhooks: IdeaLift uses Linear webhooks to receive status updates. Webhooks are automatically configured when you connect your workspace.
Troubleshooting
Status not syncing
Check that the Linear webhook is active. Go to Linear → Settings → API → Webhooks and verify the IdeaLift webhook is listed and enabled.
Can't see all teams
You can only push to teams you're a member of. Ask a workspace admin to add you to the relevant teams.
"Rate limit exceeded" error
Linear has API rate limits. Wait a few minutes before trying again. If this happens frequently, contact support.
Authorization expired
Linear OAuth tokens can expire. Reconnect Linear from Dashboard → Connections to refresh the authorization.
