Migrate from Productboard
Move your features and insights to IdeaLift
⚠️ Important: Different Tools, Different Purposes
Productboard is a comprehensive product management platform with roadmaps, prioritization frameworks, and customer insight aggregation. IdeaLift is a focused tool for capturing ideas from chat and turning them into issues.
This migration is best suited for teams who want to simplify their workflow and don't need Productboard's advanced PM features. If you heavily use RICE scoring, roadmap planning, or revenue-based prioritization, consider whether IdeaLift meets your needs before migrating.
Migration Overview
Export your features from Productboard as CSV, then import them into IdeaLift. The process takes about 15-20 minutes depending on your data volume.

- 5
Choose columns to export
Include at minimum: Name, Description, Status, Product/Component, Owner, Created date
Note: Productboard export may require admin permissions. Contact your workspace admin if you don't see the export option.
Step 2: Prepare Your CSV
Productboard exports include many columns. IdeaLift will auto-detect common ones, but you may want to clean up the file first.
| Productboard Column | IdeaLift Field | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Name / Feature name | Title | Required |
| Description | Summary | Feature details |
| Product / Component | Category | Product area |
| Status | Status | See mapping below |
| Owner / Created by | Author | Who created it |
| Created date | Created Date | Preserves dates |
Tip: You can keep the extra Productboard columns in the CSV. IdeaLift will let you skip any columns you don't want to import.
Status Mapping
Productboard statuses will be mapped to IdeaLift statuses:
Productboard → IdeaLift
- New idea→Inbox
- Under consideration→Captured
- Planned→Approved
- In progress→Approved
- Released / Done→Shipped
- Won't do→Rejected
Custom Statuses
If you have custom Productboard statuses, you can:

- • Choose a default status during import
- • Update statuses in IdeaLift after import

Feature Differences
Be aware of these differences when switching from Productboard:
IdeaLift Adds
- +Emoji reaction capture in Slack/Discord/Teams
