Setting Up Your Roadmap

1Configure Your Roadmap

Go to Dashboard β†’ Roadmap to set up your public roadmap.

URL Slug:/roadmap/your-company
Title:Your Company Roadmap
Description:See what we're building next...

2Create Stages

Define the stages of your roadmap. Common stages include:

Plannedβ€” Ideas approved for future development
In Progressβ€” Currently being worked on
Shippedβ€” Completed and released

You can create custom stages with any name and color that fits your workflow.

3Assign Ideas to Stages

Use the Kanban board to drag ideas between stages, or click an idea to assign it to a stage. Ideas must be assigned to appear on your public roadmap.

Tip: Only ideas from your Inbox or Shipped queue can be added to the roadmap. This keeps your roadmap focused on validated feedback.

4Enable and Share

Toggle "Enable public roadmap" to make your roadmap visible at the URL you configured. Share the link with customers, embed it in your product, or add it to your website.

Your roadmap URL:
https://idealift.startvest.ai/roadmap/your-slug

Public Voting

When enabled, visitors to your public roadmap can vote on ideas. This helps you understand which features are most wanted by your users.

How voting works:

  • βœ“Visitors click the vote button on any idea
  • βœ“Browser fingerprinting prevents duplicate votes
  • βœ“No login required for visitors
  • βœ“Vote counts are visible in your dashboard

Vote Statistics

View voting analytics in your roadmap dashboard:

  • β€’ Total public votes across all ideas
  • β€’ Number of ideas with votes
  • β€’ Most voted idea
  • β€’ Top 5 voted ideas list

Managing Roadmap Ideas

The Kanban Board

The roadmap dashboard shows a Kanban board with your stages as columns. Unassigned ideas appear in a separate column. Click an idea to move it between stages.

Hiding Ideas

You can hide specific ideas from the public view while keeping them on your internal roadmap. Use this for sensitive features or early-stage planning.

Removing Ideas

Click "Remove" on any idea to move it back to unassigned. The idea remains in your inbox and can be re-added to the roadmap later.

Best Practices

🎯Keep It Focused

Only add ideas you're seriously considering. A roadmap with too many items can confuse customers about your priorities.

πŸ”„Update Regularly

Move ideas between stages as you make progress. Customers appreciate seeing items move from "Planned" to "In Progress" to "Shipped".

πŸ“’Share the Link

Link to your roadmap from your app's help menu, changelog, or footer. The more visible it is, the more votes you'll collect.

πŸ—³οΈUse Votes as Input

High vote counts indicate strong demand, but don't let votes be the only factor. Consider strategic value, effort, and alignment with your vision.

Customization

Make your roadmap match your brand:

  • βœ“Custom URL slug β€” Use your company name for a professional URL
  • βœ“Title and description β€” Add context for visitors
  • βœ“Custom stages β€” Define stages that match your workflow
  • βœ“Stage colors β€” Choose from 8 color options
